Yashira fell in love with photography in middle school at Roy H. Mann in Brooklyn, in a darkroom smelling of chemicals. She shot on a Nikon film camera, arrived before 7 a.m., and loved watching images slowly appear. Her first developed photo of her family changed her palette for photography — it was art, discipline, storytelling, and truth.
A strict, passionate teacher taught her black-and-white fundamentals that still shape how she sees: with intention, patience, and respect for craft. She later studied at Grand Canyon University and Collins College School of Film, Media, & Technology, but learned that education guides you while passion keeps you going.
Hands-on work and mentorship deepened her skills, especially landing an internship with Lionel C. Martin, who pushed her to grow with discipline and vision. In Hollywood she worked at Ripp Entertainment as a project manager for Artie Ripp, learning the music and film business. She Later co-founded Treyead Entertainment and founded Bona Fide Creativity LLC.
For years she hesitated to become a Director, afraid to share her gift with a wider audience. Now, she is clear and sure of her purpose. She’s done the work, refined her voice, and built steady confidence. She shoots with integrity, directs with intention, and creates images that provoke genuine feelings. Every photo, frame, and story receives her full care and thoughtful attention.
For nearly a decade, she stepped away from the spotlight to lead an organization serving underserved children and families, yet she never stopped creating—she kept shooting, directing, and documenting life’s important moments, finding deep meaning in service as well as in art.
She’s worked across creative fields, including time in Hollywood, where she connected with people in music and film. Those experiences sharpened her perspective and made her a stronger storyteller and creative director. In a male-dominated industry she invested in her craft and production, weathered disappointments and financial struggles, and kept going, celebrating each small win along the way. A memorable moment was meeting Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds—his humility showed her that true greatness includes grace. No matter how large your recognition grows, staying humble remains the truest testament to character.
